Michael Chekhov in 1929
MICHAEL CHEKHOV, a great actor and teacher, a great humanitarian and creator of the innovative acting method, was a nephew of the renowned writer ANTON CHEKHOV. Michael inherited his uncle’s humanistic approach in life and art. Chekhov’s student MARILYN MONROE called him "the most spiritual influence in my life".

Michael Chekhov considered theatre as a powerful instrument of elevating people's sense of love and compassion, as a place where the common yearning for truth and understanding unifies actors and spectators. He ardently believed in the theatre's great  mission of enhancing society and improving human relations.
